Dave's pride and joy is Li'l Scout, his '65 A100 flatnose, which he lovingly restored and customized (see the before and after pics below), including a new 360 Dodge V8: Trans 904 TorqueFlite Posi-Rear 300 horsepower with extensive work, mostly done by Burt of Burtis Racing in Harrison, NY. He installed the entire drive train except for the driveshaft which Dave sent out to be shortened (a lot!) with new neds welded on. Inside, Dave did the panelling, insulation, painting, and installation of an overhead console rescued from Dave's very first van, Free Spirit. (You KNOW our vans never really die!) The fantastic graphics (flames, Native American logo and name brand on the doors, Two Hawks pinstripe on the front) are by the talented Mike Fredericks of Unique Signs, Mamaroneck, N.Y. Li'l Scout was featured in a spread in Maxim magazine starring the rock band, Wolf Mother.

Dave Edwards started in vanning back in 1975, with the infamous Free Spirit, a 1971 Dodge B300 with the mural known statewide. She was succeeded by a 1975 Dodge 200, known as Morning Star, which Dave also made his own. Shortly after, Dave fell in love with street rods, restoring and enjoying such rides as PhatStuff and BigButt, fat-fendered Fords from the 40s, FreeBird, a hot orange RoadRunner that had its own poster, and more, culminated in his latest project, Dart Vader, a 70s Dart that's been the most labor-intensive yet. Never losing his love of vans, in 2002 Dave bought a brand new Dodge 1500 with a 318 motor, and, in his first "newstalgia" project, immediately customed it reminiscent of the 70s van tradition, dubbing it Big Blue, which he drives everyday. Shortly thereafter, Dave acquired Li'l Scout, featured here. Dave is a retired firefighter and founded SpiritQuest Vanners van club.
